First Father's Day

Our baby girl was born 10 days before Father's Day.  With an original due date of June 7, an induction date of June 4, and Father's Day being on June 16, I knew Ava would more than likely be here just in time for us to celebrate.

With the timing being so close and the fact that I was on bed rest, I started planning Father's Day the week before our baby girl was due.  I found some good first Father's Day gift ideas on Pinterest.  I ended up deciding to do a combination of these ideas with a poem I found online.

This is where I found the Handprint poem I chose to use.

Here is the final product:

Left slot:  poem printed on card stock
Center slot:  picture of Ava with her daddy
Right slot:  Ava's handprint on card stock

I bought the gift supplies online since I knew I couldn't get out to go shopping due to the bed rest and then because I'd be busy with Ava/recovering from giving birth.  I investigated lots of online stores, including:  Target, Wal-Mart, Amazon.com, Hobby Lobby, and Michaels.  I decided to go with Hobby Lobby because the others didn't have everything I needed.  This is the first time I've ever bought from Hobby Lobby's online store, but I was very pleased with their selection and the fact that shipping was only $2.95.  They also had a coupon code that took 40% off of the most expensive item!  This saved me $12.00 off of the picture frame.  I got the dark wood picture frame, black and white chevron gift wrap, black child-safe ink pad, and cardstock (+ tax and shipping) for $35.

I also made brownies and a personalized card from treat.com.  Before Father's Day, I found a code on Krazycouponlady.com for a free personalized card.  I uploaded a couple pictures and created a custom message from Ava & I and the card was mailed to me so I could give it to my awesome husband.  It was a really good first Father's Day!
