Preconception Consultation

I've been so excited about our plans that I spilled the beans to my mom.  I just couldn't keep it a secret anymore.  She was so happy for us.  I could hear the excitement in her voice and see it all over her face.  She recommended that I start taking a vitamin with 400 micrograms of folic acid.  I actually have been taking a women's multivitamin that has that exact amount of folic acid in it for the past 5 years.  Women who get pregnant while not taking that much folic acid per day run the risk of their babies being born with neural tube defects.  She also recommended that I set up an appointment with my doctor to get all of my questions answered.  Yesterday I called my OB/GYN and set up a preconception consultation.  I wrote down a list of questions and things I want to talk about with my doctor - it's already 13 items long.  I don't even know how long the consultation is, but I'm sure I'll take up the whole time.  Some things that I'm planning on asking are:
1.  What kind of exercise can I do once I'm pregnant?
2.  Are there any screenings/shots I need before we start trying?  I read something about getting a flu shot before you conceive if you think you'll be pregnant in the winter time.
3.  About how long will it take for us to get pregnant?
Of course there are many more, but I don't want to bore you with all of them.  I'm sure I'll post again after my appointment.  I'm just so excited because I feel like I'm making progress with all of this!
