35 Weeks

How far along? 35 Weeks - sorry this post is late, I technically just turned 36 Weeks today.
Total weight gain/loss: +37 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yes
Stretch marks? Yes
Sleep:  Apparently I've become an avid snorer.  Jimi usually has to wake me up once in the night to tell me that I'm snoring.  I wish I could hear myself because prior to being pregnant (and really prior to the third trimester) I never snored.  I'm sure it's because Ava has smashed herself all up inside me and it's hard for me to breathe sometimes.  I'm still getting up 1-2 times a night to go to the bathroom, too.
Best moment this week: I washed all of Ava's blankets, burp cloths, wash cloths, towels, and clothes.  It sounds weird, but it really made me happy.  I clipped all of the tags off of her new things, washed them (in Purex Free and Clear liquid laundry detergent), and put them away in her nursery.  It just gave me this overwhelming, happy feeling like all of these things that were never there before are there now, for this new person that we're about to welcome into our lives.
Miss Anything?:  My old body and margaritas!
Movement:  Lots!  I've noticed that Ava likes to camp out on my right side.  It will have a much bigger hump than the left sometimes.
Food cravings: Nothing out of the ordinary - oranges, smoothies, ice cream, water, pico de gallo
Anything making you queasy or sick:  No
Have you started to show yet:  Yes
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: None for me.  However, one of Jimi's cousin's wives who is due with her second child 3 days after me, went into false labor this week.  I asked Jimi how he would have felt if I went into labor last week and he said he would have been freaking out!  I kind of feel the same way.  I'm glad Ava has decided to stay put for now and get a little more meat on her bones.
Symptoms: Severe edema (swelling in the ankles, feet, and hands), protein in my urine (see details from doctor's appointment below), ocassional heartburn, pelvic pain when I'm laying on one side for too long.
Belly Button in or out?  Out
Wedding rings on or off? Off
Happy or Moody most of the time:  Moody - this has been kind of a bad week
Looking forward to:  Jimi's graduation from Law school!

Here's some info. from babycenter.com on pregnancy at 35 weeks:

How your baby's growing:

Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

Doctor's Appointment Update - We had our 35-week doctor's appointment on Tuesday. Here are the highlights:
  • My blood pressure - 122 over 72 (a little higher, but still in the normal range)
  • Ava's heart rate - 150 (slower than last time, but still normal)
  • Fundal height - 39 cm (bigger, but the doctor didn't seem concerned)
  • Ava is still head-down
  • Due date is still June 7
  • Had the Group B strep test done and it was not bad at all, I barely felt it
  • Had my first cervical exam to check for dilation - it was horrible!  It was so painful, worse than a pap smear.  Not only did the doctor stick his hand up inside me, but he also pushed on the baby at the same time.  I hated it.  Oh, and I also bled for the next 24 hours after the exam.  The only good thing that came out of the cervical check was that the doctor could tell that my cervix was closed and thick.  Ava is staying put for now.
  • We discussed the bad swelling in my ankles and feet again and the doctor had me do another urine dipstick test.  The results were between "trace" and "+1" for protein in the urine.  So, I was assigned to do a 24-hour urine collection at home.  The doctor said he was concerned about preeclampsia and that this test would tell us if I had preeclampsia or not.  If I did have preeclampsia he said we would talk about inducing labor.
  • I turned in the collection (a huge, gallon jug of pee) to the lab on Wednesday, 24 hours later.
  • I got the test results on Thursday.  The levels of protein in my urine were at 265.  Preeclampsia levels start at 300.  The doctor put me on "modified bed rest" as a precaution.  This basically means that I'm not allowed to work.  I can only do light activity and I have to stay out of the heat.
  • Our next appointment is Wednesday, May 15.  We were told that the doctor would decide what he wanted to do next at this appointment.  I'm not sure if this means continued bed rest or scheduling an induction, or more tests.  I highly doubt that he'll send me back to work because of the severe edema and the protein in my urine.  We'll see what he decides.
