37 Weeks

How far along?  37 Weeks 5 Days
Total weight gain/loss: +39 pounds
Maternity clothes?  Yes.  I'm going to miss the comfort of maternity clothes when I'm not pregnant anymore.  I'll probably still wear a lot of them right after because I've heard that women typically still look 6 months pregnant after giving birth.
Stretch marks? Yes.  This is making me quite unhappy.  I feel really sad about it.  The stretch marks seem to be growing no matter how much cream I put on.  I have them on the insides of my thighs, all around my boobs, on my hips, on my lower belly, and now they're creeping up higher on my belly.
Sleep:  Since being on bed rest I usually sleep in or take a nap.  It's just really hard to switch from side-to-side and get out of bed.  This belly is really heavy!
Best moment this week: I packed Ava's diaper bag for the hospital.  I had so much fun picking out the first outfits she'll wear.  There's so much pink and I love it!  I also included pajamas, a swaddle blanket, and a receiving blanket.
Miss Anything?:  I have a feeling that I'm going to be missing my big, pregnant belly soon!
Movement:  More than ever!  I can tell that Ava is getting bigger because her movements hurt sometimes.  When she moves her feet, my entire belly moves.  She's so strong that she moves anything on my lap, like a book or my netbook.
Food cravings:  Nothing unusual - fruit, pad thai, frozen yogurt
Anything making you queasy or sick:  No
Have you started to show yet:  Yes
Gender: Girl
Labor Signs: I feel like I can officially say I've been having Braxton-Hicks contractions.  I definitely feel a tightening in my stomach from time to time.  It doesn't hurt at all, they just make my stomach rock-hard.  I make Jimi feel it and he usually agrees with me that they're probably Braxton-Hicks.  I'm not sure if this will end up being a labor sign for me, but for the past 3 days I've been having loose stools and diarrhea.  I've heard that this can sometimes mean that your body is making room for the baby to pass through the birth canal.
Symptoms: Blood pressure is prehypertension, minor swelling in feet and hands, occasional heartburn.
Belly Button in or out?  Out
Wedding rings on or off? Off
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy
Looking forward to:  My birthday is coming up on May 25.  I hope it's low-key.  Then I'm just looking forward to meeting our baby girl!

Here's some info. from babycenter.com on pregnancy at 37 weeks:

How your baby's growing:

Your baby is now considered "full term," even though your due date is three weeks away. If you go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. (Some babies need a bit more time, though. So if you're planning to have a repeat c-section, for example, your practitioner will schedule it for no earlier than 39 weeks unless there's a medical reason to intervene earlier.)
Your baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long. But don't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.

Doctor's Appointment Update - We had our 37-week doctor's appointment on Wednesday. Here are the highlights:
  • My blood pressure - 128 (prehypertension, higher than last week) over 78 (normal, lower than last week)
  • Ava's heartrate - 134
  • Urine dipstick test - Trace amounts of protein
  • Fundal height - 40 cm (same as last week)
  • Our next appointment is one week from today.  The doctor said that if I haven't gone into labor on my own by then, we might talk about inducing.  He said he will check my blood pressure again next week and base his decision off of that.
